Holy cow. What an inspiring read! I don't often read travel books, as they never seem to grasp my full attention, but this one was tops. It is captivating, enthralling, and a perfect balance of light-hearted and metaphysical. I tore through it in days. The intimate details of Mr. Campbell's adventures will leave you simultaneously longing for less responsibility and more adventure, yet grateful for where you are at.
This should prove to be a great read for seasoned travelers and novices alike. With non-stop action and hilarious misfortunes, it does not disappoint. It was certainly fun getting lost in someone else's adventures!
This book is a MUST READ for anyone doing more as they travel than going on a cruise. David conveys the common experience of any traveler who has spent a while abroad. As some who has lived overseas for a number of years, I read as he recounted his misadventures at the edge of my seat and with alarming eagerness. I feel like, he basically wrote my experiences as a traveler down. Not that I had all the same experience (I'm definitely not as adventurous as him), but the feelings and thought-processes almost mimicked my feelings and thought-processes as I settled in foreign lands for months or years at a time. Plus, I could not agree more with the title because after all MISADVENTURE IS BETTER! I've sent this book to all of my world-traveling friends to read!
P.S. The introduction and bee chapter alone is worth buying this book to read.
This is by far the best travel book I have ever read. It's funny, interesting, full of adventure. I highly recommend it to everyone who longs to see the world.
